A mall with runways
Article Abstract:
Calgary International Airport is a pacesetter in promoting the new concept of airport marketing. It is the first airport in Canada to offer street pricing. Then the airport expanded its food and retail offerings until they totalled to 80 shops and restaurants. The airport charges rent based on a percentage of profits which could result in the rent being two to three times what the business would pay in a suburban mall. Nevertheless, the airport has lineups of people waiting to snap up concession rights.
