British nationalists were taken aback by a speech by the Queen which endorsed the European Community movement. Some believe the Queen is easily led astray by her Foreign Office, but she is more astute than that. Her enthusiasm for European unity surprises only those who do not realize her political acumen.

The best women players rarely lose preliminary rounds of tournaments because the women's pro tour has fewer talented players than the men's. Critics decry the dominance of such top women pros as Monica Seles and Martina Navratilova, saying they decrease interest in the sport.
