AT and T turns tough with regulators
Article Abstract:
Basking Ridge, NJ-based AT and T Corp. has adopted a new, more agressive policy when dealing with state and federal regulators. James Cicconi, AT and T's recently named general counsel, says that his company is not going to react to the telecommunications revolution. The company has introduced a much more agressive lobbying style than it historically exhibited. ATand T successfully lobbied for inclusion of the infamous "14-point checklist" which requires the Bells, regional phone companies, to meet rigorous standards before entering AT and T's core business of long-distance service.
