AUSTRIA: AUA TO INVESTIGATE AERO ENGINES
Article Abstract:
Together with the aero engine manufacturer CFM-International, Austrian Airlines (AUA) is to find out the cause of problems that appeared in the engines of two AUA Airbus A340-200 and A340-220 planes in August-September 2000. In both cases flights had to be interrupted. Both planes are 5 years old and have the engine type CFM-56C.

Austria/Sweden: Saab 105 jets grounded
Article Abstract:
The Austrian defence forces, Bundesheer, have grounded the remaining three Saab 105 jets for the time being, pending an investigation of an accident in Sweden on 24 September 2001. The cockpit of the plane was lost during a training flight at the height of 7,000 metres. The cause might be material fatigue or ice.
