AUSTRIA: AT&S TO EXPAND IN LEOBEN

Article Abstract:

The Austrian printed board producer Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik (AT & S) has brought forward investment plans and is planning to expand its main factory in Leoben/Hinterberg for another Sch 800mn. By mid-2001 the factory will have the capacity to produce 200,000 printed boards for portable phones , up from 80,000 at present. Twenty new laser drilling machines will be installed in addition to the 40 existing ones. Current orders secure full utilisation of the expanded capacity.

AUSTRIA: NEW CHIP FOR REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY

Article Abstract:

Austria Mikro Systeme International (AMS) of Unterpremstatten has developed a new chip that makes so-called electronic car keys more reliable and cuts system costs. The remote keyless entry system uses a new high-frequency oscillator and a small lithium battery.
