Austria: Commercial code outdated?
Article Abstract:
A survey revealed that 84% of those employers asked, had never looked anything up in the commercial code. It was thought to be out of date by 40% and 56% believed that it should be redefined. Hanspeter Hanreich of the chamber of economics believes that it would be more sensible to have a central register of all companies for which a new law defining the company would need to be introduced. It is his opinion that the present commercial code has erratic definitions and does no longer apply.

AUSTRIA: JOB CUTS AT VOITH SULZER
Article Abstract:
According to the works council, Voith Sulzer of Sankt Polten, an Austrian subsidiary of German Heidenheim-based Voith group, is to reduce workforce by 150. The move is explained with the pressure on prices in the paper machine market and with the integration of the British Scapa Group, which has three locations in Austria. Voith Sulzer also wants to extend flexible working time at Sankt Polten in order to cut overtime costs.
