AUSTRIA: WAP WITH MOBILKOM AUSTRIA
Article Abstract:
Mobilkom Austria expects that by the end of year 2000 the penetration rate of WAP terminals will reach 8-10%. The average usage time will increase from about 5 minutes at present, as contents increase and improve. Mobilkom, which launched WAP services on 20 December 1999, has about 7,000 WAP clients and has so far counted about 1.1mn page impressions. The company has sold between 10,000 and 15,000 WAP phones, but demand exceeds supply. Currently there are only three WAP nodes in Austria, but the number will increase soon as internet service providers and big companies open new ones.
