Airbus bets the company
Article Abstract:
Airbus is to build a new airliner, the A3XX, to seat from 550-650 passengers, and plans to compete against the Boeing 747 in the large passenger jet market. BAE Systems will be helped by the British government with a soft loan for the project. The US could raise the issue of European Union subsidies with the World Trade Organization. Changes in the market resulting from deregulation may mean lower demand for large jets, which could mean that the new aircraft will be difficult to sell.

Airbusiness as usual
Article Abstract:
Airbus Industrie faces problems in becoming a proper company, though some of these obstacles are disappearing. The notion of a British Aerospace (BAe) merger with DASA from Germany gave the French cause for concern, but BAe is instead to merge with Marconi. Privatizations of government stakes in partners in Airbus are also removing obstacles. There are still disagreements on some issues such as asset valuations and the governance and management structure of Airbus.
