All mouth and no trousers?
Article Abstract:
Many small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are unhappy with the service provided by public relations consultants and see few benefits from PR campaigns. Larger companies with large PR budgets are able to measure the success of PR activities through detailed and regular opinion surveys which are not available to cash-strapped SMEs. Customer loyalty is rare in the PR industry, with only around 15% of clients retaining their agencies for five years or more. The Institute of Public Relations' president Peter Walker says that SMEs should look at the abilities and deficiencies of their own managers before seeking external help.

A tale of two towns
Article Abstract:
Brighton and Hove, England, has a fashionable, cosmopolitan atmosphere. It benefits from being located on the coast and being close to beautiful countryside, as well as offering ease of access to London, England. It has established a particularly strong presence in the creative arts, attracting many photographers, writers and designers. It has been able to market itself as a town for start-up and expanding businesses, especially in financial services, call centres and new media.
