America's great trek
Article Abstract:
REI sells sports equipment and equipment for hikers and the like. The consumption of products sold by REI represents consumerism for some critics, and REI caters for the better-off. The rich have long sought amusement in outdoor pursuits, and have come to care more about what they wear when involved in these activities. Equipment fetishism could be linked to stress and class divisions, but it helps promote economic growth and is fun, and the US is unlikely to suffer economic problems as severe as those of Japan while such consumerism exists.
