Amey offer for servisair
Article Abstract:
Airport services company Servisair is being acquired by the Amey Group of the UK for 200 pounds sterling for each share of Servisair stock. The offer puts the value of Servisair at 81.5 mil pounds ($135 million), a premium of 38% over the middle market price of 145 pounds per share on Dec 22, 1998. Amey will benefit from the synergistic effect of combining the business process outsourcing activities of both companies. The combined group will have pre-tax savings of 2.5 million pounds ($4.15 million) in 1998.

GlobeGround takes off into Northern Europe

GlobeGround has acquired a 66% controlling stake at airport ground- handling John Nurminen of Finland. John Nurminen is an full-service provider at Helsinki Vantaa Airport and ramp services at regional airports Rovaniemi, Oulu, Vaasa, Pori, Turku, Jyvaskyla and Tampere. It has a workforce of 380 employees and counts Star Alliance partners Lufthansa, SAS and Tyrolean Airways among its customers. On the other hand, GlobeGround has a global network of 63 subsidiaries in 29 countries, with 20,000 employees.

Servisair crosses the Atlantic

Servisair of Europe has acquired Global Group Inc of Cleveland, OH, and Tri-Star Airline Services of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. The purchases represents the company's first expansion outside of Europe and extends its coverage of airport services to 92 airports in 11 nations. Servisair, which has appointed Michael Hancock as SVP for the Americas, now serves more than 375 airlines and has a staff of 9,000.
