An eye for the undesigned: Anne Bousema's photographs question the way that wee look at landscape and what we choose to value in it
Article Abstract:
In the Netherlands the national building programme requires nearly a million more houses over the next 10 years. A three year project has been undertaken by photographer Anne Bousema at Zaaneiland in the city of Zaanstad, to record the metaorphosis of the island which was annexed for a housing development. Bousema has approached the commission in an elliptical and oblique way, preferring to photograph details, the ephemeral and the marginal, rather than panoramic overviews.
