Australian system keeps a weather eye on ship defense
Article Abstract:
Australia's Defence Science and Technology Organization has developed a new software system for radar. The software called TREPS (Troposopheric Refractive Effects Prediction System) allows the optimal performance of a ship's radar, electronic support measures systems and communications systems when operating under meteoroloical conditions known as ducting. The software uses ducting information to forecast the effects on microwave propagation and the performance of radar and other microwave systems.
