Austria: Elin/EBG resignations due to VA Tech plans?
Article Abstract:
Klaus Sernetz and Herbert Kaufmann, the managing directors of Elin/EBG are threatening their resignation, following restructuring plans by Austrian based metallurgy company VA Tech. VA Tech which had high losses in plant construction, has now suffered a blow to its more prosperous areas of business. This is due to the coming together of the water technology, Energy, Hydro and Industry service areas under the umbrella of Power & Water. Due to a lack of synergies, Elin/EBG which makes up the majority of the industry service area is against this conglomeration. Elin/EGB, which is a valuable component of VA Tech is keen to expand in its own areas of heating and air conditioning. However, the group top management is likely to deny this strategy due to a lack of financial means.
