Citizen has launched a new Eco-Drive range of light powered watches for men and women in India. The watches are priced around Rs6,800 each. The watches generate power using light energy from any ambient light source like the sun, candle or a bulb. The energy that drives the watch is stored by an ion lithium system. The watches are lightweight and scratch proof. It has tied up with Doshi Time Industries for distribution. Citizen also plans to launch 400 more models priced between Rs1,500 to Rs18,000. (nr)

HMT (INTL) MAY SET UP SHOWROOMS IN SAARC REGION, WEST ASIA
Article Abstract:
HMT (International) Ltd is thinking of setting up exclusive showrooms in Saarc countries, South East Asia and West Asia to sell HMT watches. The company is investing Rs1 crore and has also got a loan of Rs1 crore from the India Brand Equity Fund. HMT watches will be marketed overseas as Made in India brand. The company has already set up a showroom in Singapore and the new showrooms are likely to begin operations in 1999-2000. (khr)
