BPL IN TIE-UP WITH INTEL FOR NET TVS
Article Abstract:
The Rs3000 crore BPL group has tied-up with Intel for net televisions. It will use Intel's technology to build more sophisticated multi-usage convergence technology devices. It is likely to launch a range of multimedia net TVs by the end of 1998. It plans to introduce set top boxes priced below Rs10,000. These set top boxes can be used to convert a high-end TV into an internet ready one. It has set up a development centre at Bangalore with ISDN connectivity and an earth station. (nr)

TATA-IBM, INFOTECH LAUNCH EWIS

Tata-IBM Ltd and Infotech Enterprises Ltd have jointly launched Enterprise Wide Information System (EWIS), an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for small and medium businesses. EWIS is targeted at companies which have a turnover in the range of Rs50 crore to Rs250 crore. The companies claim that EWIS functions like a mainframe ERP with the convenience of a desktop application. (khr)
