Creditanstalt is rejecting a Nazi gold ultimatum
Article Abstract:
Creditanstalt, a unit of Bank Austria AG, nixed an ultimatum issued on Aug. 18, 1998, by Edward Fagan, a New York lawyer representing Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. If the company failed to beat the ultimatum, Fagan said he would file charges against Creditanstalt for its alleged involvement in transporting gold stolen from Holocaust victims and then sold by Germany's Deutsche Bank AG during World War II.
