Article Abstract:
A flotation on the London stock exchange later in 1996 for Beijing Power Generation Co. is set to raise around $358 million. It is believed that securities regulators in China and the UK are currently discussing a memorandum of understanding which will allow a dual listing. The primary regulator will be the Hong Kong stock exchange. The company is among a second batch of Chinese concerns which have received permission for an overseas listing.

No go for Pakistan's sales
Article Abstract:
Pakistan's Privatization Commission will be delayed in its attempt to privatize Karachi Electric Supply Corp. The electric utility is in poor financial shape with liabilities amounting to $1.4 billion, which is more than its current assets. The company also has a negative equity amounting to $33.3 million, and debt servicing currently occupies as much as 15% of its revenues.
