Bergman II: Cannes Film Festival
Article Abstract:
A variety of films were presented at the 1992 Cannes festival. The American film 'The Player' won the best director award for Robert Altman and the best actor award for Tim Robbins. The Swedish entries seemed strongly influenced by the films of Ingmar Bergman. Best film was the Italian film 'Il Ladro di Bambini.'

The French do it best: Berlin film festival
Article Abstract:
The French again proved to be the premier film producers in Europe at the recent Berlin film festival, while German filmmaking ranks seem both depleted and confused by reunification. Brief comments on several French and German films are included.

Bear hunters: Berlin Film Festival
Article Abstract:
Many Asian films were popular at the Berlin Film Festival, and Chinese and Taiwanese films won Golden Bear awards. Homosexuality was a theme in some of these films, and the subject was handled in a serious and sensitive manner.
