Air Canada is engaged in merger negotiations with Canadian Airlines' parent PWA Corp., despite protests by Transportation Minister Jean Corbeil that Canada forbids airline monopolies. If the two do merge, the resulting firm would control 96% of the Canadian market.

Who dares, merges: Europe's airlines
Article Abstract:
It is thought that if the proposed merger between British Airways, KLM, and Northwest Airlines goes through, it might set off a wave of other airline mergers in Europe. The industry could consolidate into a dozen or so enormous carriers.
