France has many popular comic book series that appeal to both children and adults. Two common and historic series are 'Tintin,' created by Georges Remi, and 'Asterix,' created by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. More modern French comic strips have similar yet updated themes to the older strips.

The collapse of Marxism in France has caused a shift away from the cultural revolution of 1968, in which bourgeois aesthetic and ethical values were rejected. French movies and fiction are shifting away from Marxist attitudes.
