Defender of the future
Article Abstract:
Frank Duffy is succeeding Richard MacCormac as president of the Royal Institute of British Architects. His first priority is to focus on design importance, design delivery and the user. Duffy, who has never designed a building, is a specialist in studying the relationship between users, particularly corporate customers, and buildings. He is founder member of the DEGW Partnership, which has Europe-wide offices. DEGW acts as strategic facilities planner and interior designer as well as architect. Client empathy will be a key item on the agenda of Duffy's presidency.

Through a lens darkly
Article Abstract:
The RIBA Architecture Centre selected film maker Peter Greenaway for its recent 'Framed' season of architecture in film. Architecture is clearly present in both the structure and form of his films, and he presents his audiences with many challenges. He has been associated with architecture in a number of different ways, and has tried to establish connections between architecture and his own work in film making.
