Bigger cars in a smaller pool
Article Abstract:
The Centre for Automotive Management in Henley, UK, reports that the size of car fleets is decreasing. More fleets are running a maximum of about 50 cars and leasing contracts are being designed to meet the precise needs of customers. Contract hire accounts for 79% of rental business while contract purchase has only 7.9% of the market. Vauxhall, Rover and Ford dominate the market, with French and German cars taking 5% of the business. Multi-purpose vehicles are increasingly being chosen by executives.

Life in Japan's fast - or slow - lane. Key to driving in congested cities: just leave it to the experts
Article Abstract:
A number of land transportation choices are available to travelers in Japan, but for those to whom time is important, taxis and limousine services are the best bets to avoid the country's traffic congestion. Taxi service in Japan can be relied upon for the fast commute, while limousine services are for the more leisurely ride through Japan. A number of cheap rental car services are also available in Japan, many of whom are slashing rates to attract more customers.

On the road, on your own; permit yourself some wheels
Article Abstract:
Majority of Western visitors to Asia do not use rental cars to get around, in large part due to their fear of the chaos and crowding typical of roads in the region. However, renting a car is relatively easy as most countries have one or more car rental outfits. Industry executives agree that most tourists would rather not drive in Asia but they expect all this to change with the development of better Asian highway networks.
