Ecosystems on wheels
Article Abstract:
The Massachusettes Horticultural Society tries to introduce Boston's schoolchildren to plants through the use of a customized Chevy van dubbed the Plantmobile. The Plantmobile conducts one-hour programs at local elementary schools. Children are first introduced to the murals on the van, then treated to a program covering an aspect of plant life and ecology. 1996 programs include School Yard Ecology, Flowers to Sees...and Back Again, and Squirming Around, which uses worms to teach about decomposition.
