The Czech Republic is embarking on a privatization effort that will define the course of Czech industry for years to come. It is not known what the demand will be for the shares of 987 companies that will be made available to citizens and investment groups.

Irish blood: Dracula

Stoker's 1897 book, 'Dracula,' has never been out of print. He probably based the vampire character on prominent Dublin actor Henry Irving, and on Sheridan Le Fanu's vampire story 'Carmilla.'
