Blue-chip blues
Article Abstract:
Multinational companies have been hit by the economic crisis in Asia and other emerging markets. These markets usually do not account for over 15% of the profits of a multinational, but markets such as Latin America and South East Asia had been seen as likely to provide future profit growth. Some companies are slimming down operations until the crisis has passed. The crisis has also brought opportunities such as cheaper prices for companies in the affected countries.
