Japanese securities firms such as Nomura and Daiwa are moving staff to Asia and have made $1.7 billion in new Asian loans outside Japan the first six months of 1992. Other foreign banks offering financial services in Asia making even more profit than the Japanese.

British banks seeking to cut costs may consider closing some of their branches, except that quite often British corporate customers bank far from their headquarters. British companies tend to stay loyal to their banks even if they have relocated.
