British Airways posts profit, sets higher fuel surcharge

Despite showing a profit in first quarter fiscal results, British Airways will raise the rate of the long-haul fuel charge it applies to ticket prices. The airline expects to see an increase in its total fuel bill for the year of approximately 225 million pounds.

EasyJet reports loss on fuel costs and poor weather

EasyJet PLC posted a higher loss for the 2001 first-half period. The carrier, citing fuel costs and bad weather, posted a 10.3 million pounds (16.6 million euros) pretax loss for the period, compared to a 2.3 million euros loss during the same 2000 period.
