Sales of automobiles in 1995 could match the all-time high of 16.3 million sold in 1986 despite considerably higher prices for vehicles. The average car costs more than $20,000, and more manufacturers offer incentives to sell vehicles. The effects of leasing new vehicles on the market are examined.
