Burton on the water
Article Abstract:
The refurbishment of the Museum No 1 building at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England, was in part paid for by a 1.4 million pounds sterling grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Work on the building included repairs to ceilings and floors, building a new staircase and adding toilet facilities. Modern fire doors were also fitted. Externally the brickwork was cleaned and repointed. Dannatt Johnson Architects had already undertaken work for Kew gardens when they designed a new shop, cafe and entrance at the Victoria Gate.

Archer is very influenced by colour and shapes, enabling TD to achieve a stunning visual look, very often on a tight budget. One of TD's major successes was an area in Hong Kong known as Lan Kwai Fong. Tonkin has opened an office in London called Tonkin Architects and is working on interiors and house design.
