CABLETRON DRAWS UP BIG GROWTH PLANS

Cabletron Systems, the Indian arm of Cabletron Systems Inc of the US, plans to upgrade its liaison office to a 100 percent subsidiary, along with expanding its channels and increasing manpower. Becoming a subsidiary will enable it to offer consultancy services and ease restrictions on imports and exports. It plans to raise manpower from 12 to 20 and open offices in Calcutta and Hyderabad in 1999-2000. It has decided to concentrate on the four areas of network management software, enterprise network connectivity, service provider infrastructure and services. (khr)

SINGAPORE FIRM FLOATS INDIAN SOFTWARE VENTURE
Article Abstract:
DevCentre SG Pte Ltd of Singapore, a holding company, has set up DevCentre Software at Bangalore. The holding company has been floated by the National Computer Board of Singapore, Jurong Town Corporation and Postal Savings Bank Computer Services. The Indian venture is developing a human asset accrual system, a human resources software package that deals with employee performance. An investment of about Rs4 crore has already been made in DevCentre Software and another Rs7 crore would be invested over the next three years. (khr)
