A brave new world of wireless wonders? Not exactly
Article Abstract:
SK Telecom of South Korea is struggling to make its new service, 1x wireless Internet service, attractive to customers. Currently, less than 3% of the company's revenue comes from the service. South Korea has the highest penetration rate for high-speed Internet access, with 40% of homes hooked up, making the 1x service, with its small screen and slower speed, less attractive than in places like Japan, where people have more idle time while commuting to work on trains.
