CEZ waits for its privatization in 2001
Article Abstract:
CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic), power company, expects to be privatized in 2001. The term will probably be postponed to 1H 2002. CEZ's share on the Czech electric power market decreased to 64.9% in 2000 compared to 72.9% in 1999. The firm compensated the drop of domestic sales by the growth of exports, which were realized due to the low price of electric power. CEZ's total proceeds decreased by 1.4% to CEK 53.1 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. CEZ saw a net profit of CEK 5.8 bil in 2000 compared to a profit of CEK 2.2 bil in 1999. The majority of the profit growth, CEK 2.6 bil, was represented by the low formation of reserves and rectifying items and the stoppage of the retrofit of the power station Tusimice, the Czech Republic.

Cinergy leaves PE
Article Abstract:
Plzenska energetika (PE) (Plzen, Czech Republic), power firm, will change its owner. Its hitherto has been Cinergy (US). PE produces 1.5 mil GJ of heat and 330,000 MWh of electric power for the networks of Zapadoceska energetika (Czech Republic) every year. Cinergy's departure is a reaction to the fact that the regulation bodies of the state have worsened conditions for independent electric power producers. In the Czech Republic, PE controls Moravske teplarny (Zlin, Czech Republic), Cinergetika (Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic), Energetika Chropyne (Czech Republic) and Czechpol Energy (Czech Republic).

Government, hurry up!
Article Abstract:
CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic), power company, should be privatized in 2001, before the liberalization of the Czech electric power market, according to its management. Otherwise there is a risk of a lower yield from the privatization. CEZ expects the yield from its privatization to be on the level of several hundreds of billions of Czech crowns. Among other things, the investor that will acquire CEZ will obtain a market with 6-7 mil people. CEZ is the largest electric power producer in the Czech Republic.
