Spain wary of E.On's bid for Endesa

The government of Spain has expressed its opposition to the acquisition of Endesa S.A. of Spain by E.ON Energie AG of Germany. The European Union economic policy supporting cross-border acquisitions goes against traditional national protectionism. Spain's largest electric utility is partly state-owned.

Cantabrico remains opposed to bid by Ferroatlantica

Hidroelectrica del Cantabrico SA will call on its stockholders to reject an unsolicited acquisition bid by Ferroatlantica SA. Ferroatlantica is making an 540 million euros offer to acquire 25% of Cantabrico.
