Article Abstract:
CyberTech Systems and Software Limited (CSSL) of Mumbai, a software company, posted a 40 percent rise in its net profit at Rs7.45 crore in 1997-98. It has become a subsidiary of CyberTech International Corporation (CyberTech USA) with effect from June 1998. CyberTech USA has acquired a 51 percent stake in CSSL for Rs57.82 crore. CSSL recently commissioned its state-of-the-art training centre for offering SAP R/3. It expects this centre to create more than 100 CISCO consultants per annum to support CyberTech USA's networking solutions division. CSSL's Advance Technology Centre is expected to become fully operational during the second half of 1998-99. This may result in raising the off- shore business of CSSL. These facts and figures were given by V Prasad Rao, Chairman of CSSL, at the company's annual general meeting in Mumbai on September 28, 1998. (ag)

BANGALORE STILL SUPREME IN IT: PATEL

Mr JH Patel, chief minister of Karnataka, has said that Bangalore continues to retain its supremacy in the information technology (IT) sector. This supremacy, he said, could not be challenged by Hyderabad or Chennai. According to Mr Patel, software exports from Bangalore grew by 57 percent to Rs2000 crore in 1997-98 (Rs980 crore in 1996-97). During the year, software exports from Chennai were Rs292 crore (Rs162 crore) and that of Hyderabad at Rs272 crore (Rs131 crore). Bangalore has about 230 units while Chennai has 70 units and Hyderabad has 110 units. Mr Patel expects Bangalore to export Rs3,500 crore worth software during 1998-99. (ag)

The Bangalore-Mysore infrastructure corridor project is expected to enable Karanataka to achieve its software export target. The proposed project is being implemented by the Kalyani group led Indo-US consortium. The proposed project involves developing five self-contained townships. These townships will be linked by a four-lane expressway. Karanataka plans to export Rs20,000 crore worth software. Bangalore currently exports Rs2,000 crore worth software each year. (ag)
