Call-back clawback
Article Abstract:
Hongkong Telcom International (HKTI) looks likely to lose a lot of money as a result of a ruling by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. The Commission is insisting that international phone service carriers have to reduce the rates they pay to foreign telephone companies who receive incoming calls from the US. The rate HKTI receives will be reduced from 29 cents to 15 cents per minute. HKTI is objecting to this ruling and is petitioning against it in Washington. KDD of Japan and Singapore Telecom are also petitioning against it.

Left hanging: How to beat the disembodied voice
Article Abstract:
Companies in Asia are under pressure to reduce costs, and are swapping technology for people. Voicemail, an automated system to replace telephone operators, can record messages and provide a wide range of options. However there are some irritations with voicemail and it is important to leave succinct messages. Voicemail maps with diagrams of menus can also be helpful and mailbox systems allow the collection of faces, voice messages and e-mail.

E-mail addresses are in two parts, the user name and the domain name, usually the name of the Internet service provider.Internet directories can help in finding e-mail addresses. E-mail moves faster than a letter, but similar rules of writing apply, although there is not need for formalities.
