Canadian Tire mulls money changes
Article Abstract:
Toronto, Ontario-based Canadian Tire is reportedly seriously considering a phase-out of its popular Canadian Tire money, which has slowly become venerated as the country's second currency during its 42 years of existence. A company executive said that it is evaluating the possibility of replacing the paper currency with an electronic format. A Canadian Tire Dealers Assn spokesman said that while customers can still collect Canadian Tire money, the retailer is already executing plans to track and distribute electronic money and noted that having both options has made the program more consumer-friendly. About $30 million worth of Canadian Tire money is still in circulation.
