The UK market for canned fruits and desserts fell by 9.7% in volume sales from 1992-1996. Consumers feel that canned products are not as healthy as fresh goods and the interest in health issues has led to a fall in the market. The market value fell from 260 million pound sterling in 1992 to 257 million pounds sterling in 1996. The market is predicted to continue to fall, with manufacturers needing to improve the consumer views of canned products.
