Chemicke Zavody Sokolov decreased its loss

Chemicke zavody Sokolov (CHZS) (Sokolov, Czech Republic), chemical company, expects a loss of 50-100 mil Kc for 1998, according to preliminary results. The company was to see a loss of 300 mil Kc in 1998. A reason for the firm's losses are the high instalments of credits, the interest of which is 300 mil Kc per year. CHZS exported 82% of its total production in 1998. The firm's results were influenced by the unfavourable exchange rate of the Czech crown in 1998. The company's loss from exchange rate differences amounted to more than 160 mil Kc in 1998. CHZS invested more than 160 mil Kc in 1998. The majority of the sum was used for the installation of a polymerising line worth 150 mil Kc.

Benzina SP decreased its profit in 1999
Article Abstract:
Benzina SP (Prague, Czech Republic), fuel distributor, decreased its profit by 70.4% to 28.29 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 1998. A reason for the drop was a decrease in the efficiency of fuel sales because the growth of selling prices was lower than the growth of purchasing prices in 1999. Benzina SP saw proceeds of 3.36 bil Kc for the sales of goods and services in 1999, 4.9% more compared to 1998.

Sklo Bohemia saw a profit in 1999

Sklo Bohemia (SB) (Svetla nad Sazavou, Czech Republic), glass firm, saw a net profit of CEK 26.5 mil in 1999, according to audited results. In 1998 the firm saw a loss of CEK 24.7 mil. Its proceeds totalled CEK 897.2 mil in 1999, slightly less compared to the CEK 900.6 mil generated in 1998.
