Chemists' goods in Belgium
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the 1995 chemists' goods sector in Belgium reveals varied performances in the different segments. Retail sales of pharmaceuticals totalled BFr125.3 billion, 7% more than in 1994. About 25% of manufacturers' sales were produced in Belgium. The production, export and consumption of household care products fell by 9-11%, and trends indicate a long-term decline in this sector. Sales of personal care products remained at a similar level to 1994, with a total sales figure of BFr22.1 billion. The mass retailers continued to increase their market share of the personal care products sector.
