Chernomyrdin is named chairman of Gazprom
Article Abstract:
Former Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin has been appointed as the new chairman of RAO Gazprom's board of directors. The appointment reflects the Russian government's increasingly-tight control over Gazprom, which is the largest company in Russia. The natural gas giant produces a great deal of funds for the Russian government. Gazprom constitutes approximately one-fifth of tax revenues in the Russian budget.
