Article Abstract:
The internet has fostered an expansion of private health care companies in Europe, which has been behind the US in terms of the development of this market, since much health care is provided by the public sector. Companies selling products and information have proliferated, with most focused on a single country, though Planet Medica aims to operate in several countries. The company has set up consumer portals in Germany, France and Britain, and aims to expand into Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. Regulations could hamper the development of these companies.
