Chile Fund's fate is eyed for implications in Asia
Article Abstract:
Foreign investors are keeping a close eye on GT Chile Growth Fund, using it as a gauge of the situation in closed-end country funds investing in Asia. Investment analysts say the fund is significant because it allows investors to determine the price of shares that trade at a substantial discount to their net asset value. Investors can restructure their funds to redeem the full net asset value of their shares for cash. Analysts say the Thai Euro Fund and the Thailand International Fund offer the best bargain prices among closed-end funds in Asia.

Thai mutual-fund industry offers lesson to neighbors
Article Abstract:
Thailand's mutual funds industry's total capital has grown by about three-fold in a short three-year period. Unlike similar industries in other countries, Thai mutual funds concentrate mainly on Thai equities and domestic bonds. Moreover, the industry allows foreign investors unlimited access to the amount of funds they can invest in. These unique features can be replicated in other countries which have been struggling to support their mutual fund markets.
