Clean container for an ecological sewage plant
Article Abstract:
Wessex Water's biodrier, or sewage recycling plant, at Avonmouth, UK, has been housed in a building 'of exemplary industrial design'. The biodrier needs weather protection, and this purpose would have been served by a hangar-like shed, but project architect Robert Goard, of Whicheloe Macfarlane, believed that Wessex Water's new image would be boosted by a handsome building. The new building has a crisp design with three-part elevations consisting of a brick plinth, double-skin cladding in an elegant silver, and a strong roof with an eye-catching curved shape.

Xanadu comes to Clerkenwell
Article Abstract:
Architect Timson Garah Nielson has redesigned an apartment, in a building which offered shell and core space, to reflect the flamboyant, international tastes of the client. Partitions are curved, stop short of touching the floor and ceiling, and have strong colours for emphasis. The curved divisions also conceal storage space which is plentiful and includes a walk-in wardrobe.
