Coca-Cola Beverages PLC posts 6.5% drop in sales
Article Abstract:
Coca-Cola Beverages PLC of Europe earned sales 6.5% lower to just 569.6 million pounds sterling, or $971.9 million, during the first six months of 1998 due to the Russian economic crisis. Chairman and Chief Executive Neville Isdell noted that the bottling company saw local currencies in Ukraine and Belarus devalued by the economic troubles of Russia, which, in turn, affected the prices of key raw materials. Isdell indicated that the 11 other nations where Coca-Cola Beverages maintains operations have not been affected. Coca-Cola Co. has a 50.1% stake in Coca-Cola Beverages.
