Coffee
Article Abstract:
The UK coffee market grew by 19% in value in current terms in 1991-95, and in 1995 totalled 667 million pounds sterling, equal to 46% of the total hot drinks market. Consumer interest in coffee has been stimulated by foreign travel and growth in eating out, as well as a move towards drinking real coffee. However, instant coffee sales still came to 593 million pounds in 1995, equal to 89% of the total coffee market. The market has also been characterised by the launch of new premium products, both in the real coffee and the instant coffee sectors.
