Commerzbank's operating profit rises

Commerzbank AG posted an improvement of 5.3% in its operating profits for the first-half of 1999. The company reported 796 million euros in operating profits for the period. However, Commerzbank's administrative costs also rose 18% to 2.04 billion euros. Analysts had forecasted lower costs for the German bank. Analysts had predicted that Commerzbank would post 820 million euros to 835 million euros.
