The company's products include food and beverages, soaps and detergents, personal care products and specialty chemicals. Its skin care brands include Pond's, Elisabeth Arden, Vasenol and Leocrema. Its 1996 acquisition of Helene Curtis gave it a strong presence in the US hair care market. The company is among the top maker of facial cleansers and moisturizers in the US and has the biggest budget for promotions and advertising. The company plans to reorganize and set up specific business groups to concentrate on specific product categories.

Barilla Alimentare SpA, a subsidiary of Barilla G&R Fratelli SpA, is 51%-owned by the Barilla family and 49%-controlled by Buehrle of Switzerland. Barilla, which has five wholly-owned pasta subsidiaries based in Italy, operates 18 industrial sites and maintains controling interest in 11 companies. Barilla's main food products include sweet and savoury biscuits, cakes and pastries, bakery products pasta and pasta sauces. It is the dominant manufacturer of sweet and savoury biscuits in Italy and reported a turnover of L3,316 billion and net profits of L73 billion in 1995.
