Microsoft, ICL to make range of products

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp. has formed a three-year global alliance with UK-based ICL PLC to develop information technology systems that could benefit governments, educators, and businesses. Under the deal, ICL and Microsoft will develop new computer systems to operate on Microsoft software to be used by the various sectors. Among the products to come out of the alliance are personal computer-based shopping, Internet solutions for schools, and advanced computer networking and messaging systems. ICL intends to provide training over 4,000 employees and open seven Solution Centers worldwide. In the initial three-year deal, ICL becomes the first strategic enterprise alliance partner of Microsoft based in Europe.

Boeing will join Matra-BAe in project

Article Abstract:

Europe's top missile group will reveal today that the U.S.'s Boeing Co. is joining its team, which is competing with Raytheon Co. for a major U.K. contract. Matra-BAe Dynamics (MBD), a joint venture created by France's Aerospatiale Matra SA and British Aerospace PLC, will announce that Boeing is joining its consortium to design the Meteor, a next-generation air-to-air missile, said somebody familiar with the development. MBD is competing with Raytheon for a contract worth approximately GBP1billion (Euro 922.5 million) to design missiles for the 232 Eurofighter Typhoon jets which Britain has on order.
