Confectionery
Article Abstract:
A review of eight major European markets for sugar and chocolate confectionery from 1991-1995 shows different trends with Italy as the leading growth market in 1995. The other markets include Spain, France, the UK, and Germany. The different market trends were influenced by changing consumer lifestyles, health concerns and price inelasticity. Sugar confectionery products were more in demand in the UK markets while chocolate confectionery products had more growth in Spain and Italy. New product innovations and niche marketing also pushed the growth in all markets. The period from 1995-2000 was reviewed for the market's future outlook.
